1. Screw around 胡鬧；不作正經(jīng)事
A: Quit screwing around and work on your paper, Max!
Max，不要胡鬧了，做你的報告去吧。
B: I don't want to. How can I write about something I never read?
我不想啊。我怎么寫(xiě)我都沒(méi)讀過(guò)的東西嘛？
你有沒(méi)有發(fā)現，當碰到一件很不想處理的事, 自己往往會(huì )用做其它的事來(lái)回避它? 好像你明明該坐下來(lái)用功讀書(shū), 但你卻發(fā)現自己在網(wǎng)絡(luò )上逛來(lái)逛去。這種該作正經(jīng)事的時(shí)候, 卻晃來(lái)晃去做別的事就是這里的“screw around”的意思。
“Screw around”還有一個(gè)意思是指一個(gè)人在感情上的不專(zhuān)情，同時(shí)和很多人來(lái)往。例如“After he met Susanne, he stopped screwing around.”就是“自從碰到Susanne后他就不再到處鬼混了。”
2. Screw around with someone 招惹某人；對某人態(tài)度隨便
A: A piece of advice. Don't screw around with her. She's got a terrible temper.
(給你)一個(gè)忠告，別招惹她，她的脾氣可壞得很。
B: She does? But she looks like a sweet little angel.
是嗎？但是她看起來(lái)像個(gè)可愛(ài)善良的小天使。
Screw around with someone 這個(gè)詞組基本上是從上面的“screw around”延伸出來(lái)的用法。像是對某人的態(tài)度輕慢、亂開(kāi)玩笑就是這里 screw around with someone 的意思。
另外有一個(gè)跟“screw around”也有關(guān)系的詞組是“screw around with something”。它的意思是“胡搞某個(gè)東西”的意思。好比有人拿著(zhù)你的遙控器亂玩一番，你就可以請他“Stop screwing around with the remote control.”
