Teetotalism refers to either the practice of or the promotion of complete abstinence from alcoholic beverages. A person who practices (and possibly advocates) teetotalism is called a teetotaler or is simply said to be teetotal.

禁酒主義（teetotalism）指踐行或推廣禁止飲用酒精飲料的做法，實(shí)踐（或提倡）禁酒主義的人就叫做teetotaler（滴酒不沾的人，禁酒人士）。

Some common reasons for choosing to be a teetotaler are religious, health, family, fear of gastric or social reasons, and, sometimes, as simply a matter of taste or preference. When at drinking establishments, teetotallers either abstain from drinking or consume non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee, water, juice, soft drinks and mocktails.

選擇做禁酒人士常見(jiàn)的原因多與宗教、健康、家庭、腸胃以及社會(huì )問(wèn)題有關(guān)，有時(shí)也可能只是因為口味的原因選擇不喝酒。在一些飲酒的場(chǎng)合，禁酒人士或者避免參與，或者就選擇一些不含酒精的飲料，比如茶、咖啡、白水、果汁、軟飲以及不含酒精的雞尾酒等。
