A blind date refers to an arranged meeting for two people who have never each other before, in order to try to start a romantic relationship. blind date就是通常所說(shuō)的相親見(jiàn)面會(huì )。date除了有日期的意思之外，還表示約會(huì )。相親前雙方都沒(méi)有見(jiàn)過(guò)面，頗有點(diǎn)“夜里摸黑”的感覺(jué)，用blind描述就不難理解了。現在，除了blind date，speed date也很流行，它表示速配約會(huì )。
